The Baron of Bakewell, what a character he is. In the design phase the mighty horns are what first came to mind. The unique spiral deserved all the attention as the incredible feature that they are. We carved them to feel inevitable, as though they had grown that way over years of wind and weather, not from our hands.

The texture of his coat was where we knew the sculpture would come to life. We pressed and shaped the surface so it would catch light unevenly, with a brushed gold finish to almost glow in the shifting sun.

We’ve said it before, but it’s always the face that takes the most deliberating. Too much detail and he becomes a portrait; too little and he loses his spirit. We softened the mouth, tightened the eyes just enough for his character to come through.

A quiet, understated companion to complete every landscape.
